Langhe Riesling DOC Sassi e Sabbia

Rhine Riesling (clones from Alsace and Mosel)

Imagine what the Riesling clones from Alsace and Mosel felt when, at the end of the 1980’s, Domenico Almondo brought them to Roero. All of a sudden, they were growing in a soil made of stones and sand (sassi e sabbia), 360m above sea level. They had never been as south as this, in a soil which once was sea.

That’s why this Riesling is the link between the typical freshness of this grape variety and the mineral quality of the Montà d’Alba terroir. Steel and cement preserve its fragrance, which is made of fresh aromas, vegetable and floral, such as basil, peppermint, rue, chamomile, acacia honey, Granny Smith apple. On the palate, it is tight, essential, soft and tasty at the same time.
