Roero Arneis DOCG Le Rive Del Bricco Delle Ciliegie

Arneis

For the last forty years, we have vinified each parcel separately. We do this for Nebbiolo as well as for Arneis. That is how we discovered that the grapes of a sloped vineyard could yield an especially complex Arneis, distinguished by a rich mineral quality and a great potential for ageing.

We are talking about 60-year-old vineyards on a soil rich in clay and limestone with chalky veins. Here is where the Almondo family has always lived, since the 1300’s, and this hill has always been their property.

It ages for 10 months, partly in stainless steel and partly in ceramics tanks. The result is a wine which perfectly makes the case for a soil stronger than the vine. On the nose, notes of lemon, citron and yellow peach, then white pepper and sage, and finally hints of stone and resin, for a sensory journey only apparently far from Arneis. On the palate, the most mineral side of the grape Arneis is revealed, dry, very long, deeply tasty, almost salty.
